A significant milestone has been reached in strengthening cybersecurity education in Eastern Europe. Four pioneering university-level courses focused on cutting-edge topics have been made available to students in Ukraine and Georgia. The courses cover key areas critical to modern cyber defense:
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Cybersecurity
- DevSecOps
- Quantum and Post-Quantum Security
- 5G Security.
These programs are the result of intensive collaboration between universities and international partners aimed at modernizing higher education curricula to meet the challenges posed by evolving digital threats.
Over the past year, our consortium has engaged in collaborative curriculum development, knowledge sharing, and partnership building. These efforts were recently presented at the first-year general assembly, which was held virtually due to considerations of sustainability and the ongoing conflict’s impact. This meeting reflected on the successes achieved in the project’s inaugural year and set ambitious goals for the upcoming phases, including additional upskilling actions and resource development. Initial discussions include an upcoming upskilling initiative with personnel from Ukraine and Georgia, expected to take place in a nearby European university campus.
Alongside the course launches, the consortium submitted four project deliverables to the European Commission, keeping in line with its commitments, and is currently undergoing a revision phase. Notably, three of these deliverables have already been published and are accessible to the public, expanding the reach and impact of the initiative beyond the classrooms of Ukraine and Georgia. These resources include updated curricula, teaching materials, and frameworks designed to facilitate ongoing education and training in key cybersecurity domains.
The availability of these courses and deliverables is a crucial step in equipping the next generation of cybersecurity specialists with the skills necessary to enhance cyber resilience locally and regionally amid a complex and rapidly evolving threat landscape.
Special thanks are extended to all the partners whose dedication and support have made these achievements possible. Their work marks only the beginning of an ambitious multi-year effort to enhance digital defenses through education and international cooperation.
