We are pleased to inform you that on February 27, the first quantum laboratory in Georgia was opened at Caucasus University. It is equipped with ultra-modern technologies, which will lay the foundation for the development of quantum technology and cryptographic security activities in Georgia.
The laboratory’s research base includes:
- USB Quantum Random Number Generators (QRNG) and portable quantum devices for scientific and industrial purposes;
- QRNG PCIe cards;
- Hardware required for the security analysis of embedded systems, including Side-channel attacks and ChipWhisperer platforms;
- Powerful servers;
- Commercial Quantis Appliance random number generators;
- Specialized servers and testing equipment for post-quantum cryptography research.
The event also featured the presentation of an AI/ML laboratory, opened within the framework of the same project at Akaki Tsereteli State University in Kutaisi, and a 5G lab created at Shota Rustaveli State University in Batumi. The attending audience had the opportunity to observe the working principles of all three labs and view live demonstrations.
The event was attended by around 150 guests, including representatives from various ministries, heads of state and private organizations, and academic personnel from public and private universities across Georgia.
The laboratory was established with the financial support and cooperation of the Erasmus+ project SECURE. The regional director of the project is Maksim Iavich—Corresponding Member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Director of the Caucasus Cyber Security Center, Professor, and President of the SCSA.
